No sound coming from my subwoofer on my Home Theater Surround System? - surround sound theater system

I picked up a surround-sound system may be used and all the work involved, but the subwoofer does not receive any sound. Is this perhaps something that can be easily solved. It did not last, but at the same $ 50. Set cheaper or not worth my time?
